Built up over the last two centuries, BM&AG's collections represent every era of art, history, science and nature, from the geology of millions years in the past to the products of human creativity and enterprise. Our Museums Service covers seven sites across Birmingham, from the Central Museum & Art Gallery in Chamberlain Square to the community museums.
Birmingham has a huge collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, largely built up from bequests and gifts rather than purchases. There are many other impressive Victorian artworks in the collection. They include Wise and Foolish Virgins by W. J. Wainwright, and architectural drawings by the late follower of the Pre-Raphaelites T. M. Rooke. Sidney Meteyard has impressive pictures....
